Welcome to the Friends of Michaelhouse.
The Friends of Michaelhouse support the community and artistic outreach of the Michaelhouse Centre Cambridge. We help to organise events, raise funds, and provide volunteers who work in the centre. The Friends play an important part in supporting Michaelhouse to serve the community.
A Centre for the Exploration of Faiths and Spirituality: Each year, the Friends of Michaelhouse arrange and resource a number of awareness events in order to help the centre bring together members of local faith communities. The Friends organise and fund workshops, talks, artistic and worship events, which enable participants to meet one another and to learn from each other’s experiences.
A Centre for Local Communities and User groups: The Friends of Michaelhouse take seriously the centre’s engagement with local issues of marginalisation and isolation. We provide financial support to promote the use of the centre by groups who work in these areas in the following ways: to enable special concession rates for room hire, to help fund and support Michaelhouse volunteers who work with older people, people facing mental health issues, single carers with young children and to support students from local schools in areas with significant deprivation. In addition we help fund and organise a wide range of social events designed to appeal to a broad cross-section of Michaelhouse users.
You can become a part of this lively community of supporters and friends. The Friends of Michaelhouse share in a stimulating social and educational programme of their own where they can meet one another and other members of the Michaelhouse community. In addition, members receive a discount on any purchases made in the Michaelhouse Café.
